Qualitative Study of Influence Factors on Hospitalizing Behaviors of Participant in NCMS

[Objective] To study hospitalizing behavior changing of participant in New Cooperative Medical System (NCMS) and analyze the main influence factors by using qualitative research. [Methods] The semi-structured interviews, key informant interviews and focus group discussions were carried out and 71 farmers and health service providers, health management personnel were interviewed in Luoyuan and Zherong counties. [Results] There were some differences between two counties for hospitalizing behaviors. The hospitalizing behaviors in Zherong were basically similar to past years. But more people went to the nearest township health center for hospitalizing in Luoyuan. The medical condition of township health centers was a main influence factor. [Conclusion] The government investment, the construction of township health centers, the skill and knowledge training of health staff, the infrastructure construction in rural areas should be strengthened for carrying out NCMS.
