Evaluation analysis on the operation of methadone maintenance treatment in Kunming in 2007
Objective To evaluate the service quality and effectiveness of methadone maintenance treatment,and to promote the further development of it in Kunming.Methods Applying the approaches of questionnaires, checking data in sites and interviews to evaluate the comprehensive management and task accomplished in the methadone maintenance treatment clinics.Results By the end of 2007,accumulative 2296 persons were enrolled in 9 clinics,with maintenance rate of 65.5%.In 2007,among them,38.2%and 36.6%were tested HIV and HCV respectively,36.6%were provided HIV VCT service.The follow-up rate was 55.1%among the people with HIV.Conclusion In Kunming,the program of methadone maintenance treatment has some problems, including small number of patients,low rates of maintenance,HIV and HCV testing and HIV VCT coverage, and poor management for people with HIV/AIDS.
