An Approach to the Administrative Model of Health Emergency Service and Disease Prevention After the Wenchuan Earthquake Disaster
The big earthquake hit Wenchuan on 12 May, 2008 resulted in the breakdown of the health and anti-epidemic system in the heavily-hit regions. The local institutions were paralyzed or semi-paralyzed. Based on the characteristics of health emergency and disease prevention, and actual conditions there, the Jiangsu Health and Anti-epidemic Team to Sichuan scientifically worked out goals of different stages with emphasis on the post-disaster disease prevention needs, put into practice various anti-epidemic measures, adopted a scientific and rational post-disaster administrative model of emergency service and disease prevention. As a result, remarkable achievements have been made in this emergency disease control efforts.
