A Case-control Study on the Application of Antibiotics in Orthopedics during the Perioperative Period

Objective To investigate the antibiotic use during perioperative period in orthopedics after the admission according to Antibiotic Drug Use Guideline.Methods The use of antibiotics among 81 outpatients in Mar.2005 and 84 cases in Mar.2006 during the perioperative period in orthopedics were surveyed.Results The Preventive use rate of antibiotic medication in orthopedics in 2005 and 2006 were respectively 100% and 89.29%(P0.05);compared with that in 2005 the percentage of preoperative and postoperative antibiotic medication in 2006 was lower(P0.05);the percentage of intraoperative medication was higher(P0.05);the duration of postoperative medication was shorter(P0.05) and the percentage of 2,3 or 4 kinds of antibiotics combined treatment was lower(P0.05).Conclusions The administration of the medication of antibiotics during perioperative period has been proven effective,but there are some problems needed to be managed further.
