Epidemiology of hepatitis E in Wuhan region
Objective To investigate the epidemic status of hepatitis E virus(HEV)infection in Wuhan region.Methods Blood samples were detected for those who came for routine physical examination,hepatitis E virus IgG and level of ALT in serum were detected by ELISA.Statistical method was applied to analyze all the data.Results Among the 3 561 individuals,30.50% had HEV infection,37.92% were HEV-IgG positive in male,23.31% were positive in female;less than 1% were HEV-IgG positive in the group below 20 years old;The rate of infection in male was higher than that in female,the rate of infection increased with the age,but the level of ALT in those not being infected by HEV was not related with infection.Conclusion Males and people of higher age were more risky in HEV infection,HEV-IgG infection rate in people below 20 years old was less than 1%.More attention should be paid to prevent the outbreak of HEV in schools.
